Activity holidays for the independent traveller

Korvala’s summer activities offer experiences of discovery and exploration. Pleasant accommodation, clear fishing waters and a range of programmes can be enjoyed on site and nearby.   20050209120508.jpg

Whilst travelling with an adventurous spirit through some of Lapland’s wilderness, the activities, which are organised with the help of the villagers, are also designed to give a genuine taste of this part of Lapland.   20050209130321.jpg

For those interested in fishing, there are three lakes and two river frontages to choose from at Korvala all within easy walking distance. The large and small Korvala lakes have a combined surface area of 11 ha and shoreline of 2 km, which is partly sandy and partly covered by peat bog, with duckboards and benches to make access and casting easier. They have an average depth of 5 metres, with the deepest point at 15 m. The third lake, Tunturilampi, is a wilderness lake surrounded by primeval forestland (7 ha).   20041119101630.jpg

Fishing is also possible along a one kilometre stretch of Säynäjäjoki River or with the Forestry Commission’s licence for Raudanjoki River. The fish variety includes trout, char, powan, grayling, perch and pike. The lakes and rivers also offer the opportunity for canoeing and rowing, whilst nearby, forest paths lead the walker or hiker to beautiful spots in the wilderness, ideal also for bird-watching and nature photography.   20050209145734.jpg

Our restaurant services are available for groups of eight or more and a selection of the raw ingredients are supplied by local producers. A small kiosk provides basic supplies to back up those catering for themselves while a little village shop 13km away provides a wider range of fresh produce.   20050209122625.jpg

Our log cabins, rooms and camping services offer flexible accommodation choices.   20050209145621.jpg
